I began looking for an acoustic guitar a couple of years ago, and after going to a large chain vendor in town decided to make an appointment at Rainbow. My experience was night and day-the guitar had newer strings and was in tune. I spent a lot of time in that back room with no distractions, just me and the guitar. I had to wait a couple of weeks for financial reasons, so left without buying and was not made to feel badly about that (thanks Stefan). I went back and purchased my Martin and have no regrets at all. For those who are put out to have to make an appointment, don't be- if you really want to hear and vibe out a guitar this is a unique opportunity. Thank you Rainbow.
Great store! If in Tucson or willing to drive there, look online at the vast selection and make an appointment to visit the store and receive outstanding service! I picked up this beautiful Taylor after spending 2 hours with the store owner!
Very cool store, all the employees and the owner Harvey are just excellent. Gave me a great deal on a guitar and let me decide after 2 weeks wether I wanted to return it or not. Plus the fact they shipped the guitar to Illinois. Would recommend this store to everyone.

Nice selection of guitar's. Very friendly staff and responsive. I purchased 2 guitars online. The set up was perfect and I got the string changes I wanted. I will definitely do business with them again.
Spent several thousands here over the years, then they went to appointment only, which sucks. But I understand some business owners wanting to do this. I've also used their repair department a couple times and they do very good work. I just can't see myself spending any more here unfortunately, I feel like if someone wants to purchase things online they will purchase things online. A storefront is there for a reason, so people can walk in and interact with the physical product. Sure you can still schedule an appointment but most all of my instrument related purchases have been somewhat spontaneous; aka walking in and browsing... If I want to buy online I feel like most will just default to sweetwater.
Rainbow Guitars is a fixture in Tucson. It's also well known all over in the guitar world. Owned by the same man (Harvey) for years. Now open by appointment (since Vivid) he hasn't gone back to walk in. The same with Rainbow Repair next door. The do guitar setup, repairs, and even amp work. I trust them and they are reasonable with their rates. I bought my forever guitar at Rainbow years ago after looking everywhere from NYC to Nashville. San Diego to Las Vegas. And I found it here in Tucson!
Bought a Collings 470 JL and paid over 7 grand for it. When I called to complain about FedExs delay, I spoke with Vic who was very dismissive, rude, and unsympathetic. He basically told me there was nothing he could do and then hung up on me. Lesson learned, do not buy from these people, they do not care about their customers. Very unprofessional!
